Background

Dr. Maerlender is a retired board certified clinical neuropsychologist and affiliate faculty at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Center for Brain, Biology and Behavior (CB3). From 2021 to 2025 he was a visiting professor in Psychology and Senior Research Fellow at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, N.H. teaching introductory, research and neuroscience courses.

Dr. Maerlender currently serves on the Medical and Safety committee of the National College Rugby organization (https://ncr.rugby/) while teaching psychology courses at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, NH, while consulting to numerous high school athletic programs regarding concussions. He has served on numerous regional and national boards and committees including the Institute of Medicine Committee on Concussions in Youth Sports, The Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialist (ACBIS) of the Brain Injury Association of America, and was a founding member of the B1G10-Ivy League TBI Research Collaboration for whom he serves as the Emeritus Research Director.
